Now that was really cool: watching the NASA live stream of the Mars Rover Curiosity landing on Mars. OK, it wasn’t a live feed transmitted back from the rover, but seeing the command room with all those really anxious guys and gals watching their data feeds, announcing progress was still pretty cool. At least for a geek, I presume. 😉 Visually, they simulated the Rover’s descent based on the telemetry sent back to Earth (takes 14min to get here) and then depicted the first few pictures as soon as they got. Man, did they get excited getting 64×64 black&white thumbnails!
