Back in the snow

Being rather jealous of the snow in Europe, I went to Snowplanet with a few friends of mine. Considering, that I hadn’t been boarding here too long ago, I was surprised to once again feel strange standing on my board, like I hadn’t done boarding in a long time. That I had a sore foot for quite a while, probably made things worse. Well, fortunately, it only took a few runs down the beginners slope (that being a tradition somewhat already!) to get connected to my board again.
I was pretty pleased with my performance, despite being a bit of a chicken with my once-sore foot. I once again attempted to get the hang of jumps – nothing spectacular, mind you – using the various bits in the terrain park. And the highlights of that visit were, that I managed to get over a straight and a pointy rail (actual snowboarders probably cringe reading this – I have no frigging clue what the correct terms are). I find it rather scary, sliding over such a metal contraption, since I’ve seen enough boarders not making it quite to the end. Ouch… Well, so far I’ve been lucky and I only fell off at the end. 🙂 Oh and on my last run, I attempted the big ramp and managed to jump a little bit without a wipe-out! Yay! 🙂
In contrast to my friends, who weren’t doing jumps, I didn’t have any problems with my calf muscles, but with my lower back: all that crouching and then straightening up was quite a bit for my – thanks to an office job – underdeveloped back muscles. But what doesn’t kill you, makes you only stronger. Yeah, right…
