Te Waihou

We took the opportunity, since the weather was just brilliant, and walked the Te Waihou walkway, just a bit south of Tirau. It’s a beautiful walk along a river with an amazing color, the further upstream you get, the bluer the water gets. In some places, it looks like somebody dumped light blue color into the river, staining the stones at the bottom. Weird somehow, but beautiful to look at! And it’s definitely a nice change from the cow droppings that you have to avoid for a large part of the walk (the walk is also through private property, i.e., cow paddocks). Another random bit that one comes across, that Helen Clark, the former prime minister, apparently opened the walkway
Even though it was an easy walk, walking for 3 hours and being slightly out of shape makes you kinda tired… 🙂
