Just manually installed the all-new vlc 0.9.2, according to this Ubuntu forum post. In addition to all the packages listed in that post, I also had to install libgcrypt:
sudo apt-get install libgcrypt11 libgcrypt11-dev
I was quite curious, to see what the newly rewritten application had to offer (uses now qt4 instead of wxWidgets). And, of course, the first thing that I stumbled across: full-screen mode no longer worked. Duh! Uninstalled it immediately again… Let’s just wait for the next release! 🙂
