Drizzle, drizzle, drizzle…

Well, that didn’t really go as planned… Friday: beautiful weather up the mountain. Sunday: beautiful weather as well. Saturday: fog and drizzle. Crap.

This time, we went down to the mountain even earlier, leaving Hamiltron just after 5am. By the time we arrived (must have been around 8.30ish), we had a strong breeze in our faces and visibility was already quite low. At some point the drizzle set in. Bugger… That’s the least that you wanna have: seeing nothing and getting wet while trying to avoid falling on your bum or crashing. I had to take my goggles off to be able to make out any features of the slopes – didn’t want to wedge in my board again like last time.

After practicing a bit in the beginners area, I went up to the next lift again. Man, that weather sucked up there even more! Apart from the drizzle (according to another boarder that I rode up with on the chairlift, it was all blue skies at 7.30am!!) we even had strong gusts of wind. Well, they had a warning that there’d be gusts up to 70kph in exposed places, but the beginners area was quite sheltered and you didn’t notice that. At one point, facing the wind directly, I came to standstill. Wow… Never had that before…

In the end, after being soggy (thank God, only the gloves were wet, through and through) and no longer really in the mood for boarding, we had a nice long lunch break and decided to come back another time with better conditions. On the upside, it turned out that my gear (apart from the gloves) can take that kind of weather pretty good! 🙂
